Cannabis Propagation
Local Hawaiian Varieties #1
Island Lemon
The breeders at HawaiiGardener.com have worked tirelessly over the past 8 years to produce our very first signature cannabis seed, Island Lemon.
A sativa dominant hybrid specifically bred for growing in Hawaii year-round. Is resistant to fungal diseases common to the Islands like powdery mildew and bud rot (Botrytis). Is semi-resistant to mites; i.e., mites will feed on other plants before this one.
This variety has a potency in the 20%-28% range making it ideal for medicinal applications.
The mature flowers have a relatively pungent odor with citrus and lemony overtones. Produces a beautiful light amber gold concentrate suitable for many value added applications.
Island Lemon seeds are now for sale at Shaka Seed Bank.
The Mother
Lady Oahu is the ideal Hawaiian mother plant. Originating from a seed batch that matched a spectacular Maui Wowie Mother with a White Widow father. The result was not disappointing and phenotype #4 was our lady of the hour.
She thrives year-round on account of her super-fast transition time to flowering. The variety is a medium to high yield plant on account of its naturally bushy tendencies. This results in high numbers of nugget size buds in only 6-7 weeks total flowering time.
Lady Oahu is a fast rooter; clones are typically rooted in 7-10 days and feature near 100% success rate in a decent cloning machine. She proves to be a hardy plant and can survive a fair amount of abuse.
As a hybrid her growing traits tend towards a sativa dominant cannabis variety with a 1:1 ratio of CBD to THC testing in the 25% range. The concentrate produced is a beautiful light amber gold, confirming the Sativa dominant tendencies.
The Father
Lemon Daddy is a prolific flowering father that originated from a Barney’s Farm Lemon Amnesia batch. Chosen for its fast-flowering time, potency and pungent lemon aromas. The concentrate from this plant is a golden amber suggesting a strong sativa heritage with a solid indica base.
Lemon Amnesia is top heavy and requires pruning to branch out which was intentional to accent Lady Oahu’s bushy nature so as to produce a plant quite amenable to training.
